HO 936B Standard DC UP by Walthers (WAL92048355) To pull the growing "City" fleet, UP ordered a variety of new diesels between 1946 and 1950 when the first EMD E8s arrived. Typically run in A-B-B lash-ups, these engines, along with nearly identical E9s, were the signature power on UP's flagship trains through 1971.
Based on units assigned to various City trains, Walthers E8s feature authentic UP-specific details, including the road's distinctive rooftop snowshields. The models come with multiple unit numbers, and are factory-finished in authentic paint, lettering and striping to match the cars. Other features include:
* Revised Body
* See-Through Air Intake Grilles
* Helical Gears for Ultra-Quiet & Smooth Running
* Easy Multiple-Unit Operation
* Superb Paint & Lettering
* Painted Metal Grab Irons, Handrails & Lift Rings
* Five-Pole, Skew-Wound, High-Torque, High-Efficiency Can Motor
* Proto MAX(TM) Metal Knuckle Couplers Tell A Friend
