LOTUS TYPE 49 - 1968, JO SIFFERT by Scalextric (SCAC3092) C3092
Jo Siffert raced the Lotus 49, chassis R2, Cosworth DFV V8 powered ex Jim Clark car on six occasions with only one full distance race, all retirements were due to engine related problems.
The car was borrowed by the Rob Walker team from Lotus and ran reasonably well, despite a petrol leak on the foot pedals, but was safely retired before anything broke, recording an 11th place finish. Rob Walker’s team ran the car until mid-season whilst the official Lotus team were making appearances with the infamous high-winged Lotus 49B.
Exclusively produced by Scalextric, the modelled car is the Lotus 49 raced at Jarama in Spain in May 1968, entered by Rob Walker’s private race team.
Acclaimed as one of the most beautiful cars modelled by Scalextric this car has been in high demand since introduced in 2008 under the Lotus team livery colours or green and yellow as well as the hugely popular white, red and gold, Gold Leaf livery.
The highly detail engine and rear suspension, as well as interior cockpit, is a pleasure to behold and a delight to race or display.
